Abstract
Irak Türkmen edebiyatı, tarihsel süreç içerisinde önemli edebiyatçı ve araştırmacıların gayretleriyle zenginleşerek kendine özgü bir edebî gelenek oluşturmuştur. Bu gelenekte önemli bir yere sahip olan yazarlardan biri de şair, araştırmacı ve eğitimci Nusret Merdân’dır. Merdân’ın edebiyata yönelmesindeki temel etkenlerden biri, “Merdânlar” olarak anılan ailesinin içinde birçok edebiyatçı ve araştırmacının bulunmasıdır. Bu entelektüel çevrede yetişen Nusret Merdân, edebî kimliğini bu atmosferde şekillendirmiştir. Şiir, hikâye, çeviri ve araştırma alanlarında eserler veren Merdân, yenilikçi bir bakış açısıyla edebiyat dünyasına katkı sunmuştur. Onun edebî üretiminde dikkat çeken yönlerden biri, iki kültürü bir arada yansıtan bir kimlik oluşturmasıdır. Eserlerini ağırlıklı olarak Arapça kaleme alarak Arap edebiyatına önemli katkılar sağlamış; aynı zamanda yazılarında Türk edebiyatının önde gelen şahsiyetlerini tanıtarak Türk edebiyatına da değerli katkılarda bulunmuştur. Bu bağlamda, Merdân’ın hem Arap hem de Türk edebiyatını birbirine tanıtma ve aralarında bir köprü kurma çabası dikkat çekicidir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, Nusret Merdân’ın eserleri ve araştırmaları çerçevesinde, onun Arap ve Türk edebiyatına yaptığı katkıları incelemek ve edebiyat dünyasındaki yerini ortaya koymaktır. Çalışma kapsamında belge tarama ve analiz yöntemleri kullanılarak, Nusret Merdân ve ailesinin yanı sıra onun edebiyat dünyasına sunduğu katkılar detaylı bir şekilde ele alınmıştır.

Abstract
The literature of Iraqi Turkmen has enriched itself over the course of history through the efforts of prominent writers and researchers, establishing a unique cultural and literary tradition. Among the notable figures in this tradition is the poet, researcher, and educator Nusret Merdân. One of the key factors influencing Merdân’s turn towards literature was the presence of numerous writers and researchers within his family, commonly referred to as the “Merdans.” Growing up in this intellectual environment, Nusret Merdân shaped his literary identity within such an atmosphere. Merdân contributed to the literary world with innovative perspectives in the fields of poetry, storytelling, translation, and research. A particularly noteworthy aspect of his literary work is the dual-cultural identity he represents. Writing predominantly in Arabic, he made significant contributions to Arabic literature while simultaneously introducing prominent figures of Turkish literature in his writings, thereby enriching Turkish literary discourse. In this regard, Merdan’s efforts to introduce Arabic and Turkish literatures to one another and to establish a bridge between them are particularly striking. The purpose of this study is to examine Nusret Merdan's contributions to Arabic and Turkish literatures through his works and research, thereby highlighting his position in the literary world. The study employs document analysis and evaluation methods to provide a detailed exploration of Nusret Merdan, his family, and his contributions to the literary domain.
